Riven is built from a ring of split staves, each carrying the deep vertical grain and torn edge of a log that's been broken open rather than cut. Rotate the outer ring and the staves slide past one another — closed to a seam of light, or open into a full bloom of glow that throws long shadow rays across the surface it sits on.

It doesn't just look like wood. It's made with real wood fibre, blended into a plant-based composite and printed layer by layer. The material sands like wood, ages like wood, and carries wood's own irregularity — which is why no two Riven lamps come out quite the same shade. The tone shifts with the print, from dark umber through to warmer olive-brown. Yours will be its own.

Closed, it reads as a solid object: a dense column with a bark-like surface that catches light along every ridge. There's almost nothing to give away that it's a lamp at all. Open it and the whole thing changes character — warm light escapes through widening gaps, and the shadows become part of the piece.

That's the point. Most lamps have one appearance and a switch. Riven has a range, and you set it with your hands rather than a dial. Wide open over dinner. Nearly closed at the end of the evening.

Why It's Special

Made With Real Wood Fibre: Not a wood-look finish. Riven is printed in a wood-fibre composite — actual wood blended into a plant-based polymer. It sands like wood, and it carries wood's natural irregularity in both texture and tone.

No Two Are the Same Shade: Wood fibre darkens as it's extruded, so tone shifts subtly through every print. Yours will sit somewhere between dark umber and warm olive-brown, and it won't be identical to the one in these photographs. That variation is the material behaving like wood.

Light You Adjust by Hand: Rotate the outer ring and the staves open or close, widening the gaps that light escapes through. It's a mechanical aperture, not a dimmer — you're shaping where the light goes and the shadows it throws.

Shadows That Are Part of the Design: Opened up, Riven casts long radiating bands of light and shadow across the table around it. The surface it sits on becomes part of the piece.
